I was taught that adverbs ...Oh, and another thing. I was taught that adverbs pertaining to frequency (as in 'always' above) go where 'not' would go - if you were forming the negative. So, "<i>it has always been</i>" <b>rather than</b> "<i>it always has been</i>". But I dunno, we're very lax 'round here. And often plain wrong, as Mudgie points out.
